The POA president has violated International Olympic committee charter by writing to president.

According to sources in POA, Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) President, Lt Gen (r) Syed Arif Hasan has violated the International Olympic Committee (IOC) charter by appealing to the President and Prime Minister to look into the matter over implementation of sports policy, sources in POA claimed. The source said that President POA always claiming that Pakistan Olympic Association is autonomous body and no rule or policy of the government can apply on POA discipline. The question is that in which capacity, Arif Hasan appealed government higher authority to interfere with the body issues. The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) wants to implement the National Sports Policy as per orders of Supreme Court under which no national sports federation head can have more than two tenures but the POA President has refused to follow the PSB directives, as the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Pakistan is an autonomous body that only follows IOC Charter. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) also warned Pakistan over interference in the internal affairs of the national sports federations and organisations.IOC also summoned POA and PSB representatives in Switzerland and held meeting with them over this issue but nothing positive was done to resolve the issue.POA got many support and assistance from Pakistan Sports Board and PSB never declaim the request to support the POA to facilitate them in field of sports activities, adding that we don’t understand what Arif Hasan wants, he concludes.
