Olympics: Radcliffe confident despite foot injury

Paula Radcliffe insisted she expected to run in the Olympic marathon on August 5.

Britains Paula Radcliffe is confident she will be able to run the marathon at the London Olympics next month despite the recurrence of a foot injury.London promises to be the 38-year-old world record holder and former world champions last shot at Olympic marathon glory after she failed to finish when favourite in Athens in 2004 due to illness and injury, with injuries hampering her build-up in Beijing four years ago where she finished down the field in a lowly 23rd place.Since 2006, Radcliffes career has been blighted by a variety of injuries, including back, hip, toe and bunion problems.But speaking at the launch of Nike and O2s new app, Priority Sports, Radcliffe insisted she expected to run in the Olympic marathon on August 5.Preparations for the Games have gone really well and I was really pleased until the last 10 days or so, Radcliffe said.The joint in my foot that can give me trouble has been giving me a bit of a problem.Im getting some answers on that so that I wont be training in pain between now and then, but hopefully everything should be all right.I dont think my participation at the Games is under threat at this stage.Its just a case of managing it. I can run on it, it just hurts.
