Tour de France winner Cadel Evans of Australia won the Criterium International cycle race.

Australias Cadel Evans clinched victory in the Criterium International for the first time after Frances Pierrick Fedrigo won the third and final stage here on Sunday.Evans, who won last years Tour de France, preserved his lead in the overall standings by finishing in fourth place in the climb up the Col de lOspedale near Porto-Vecchio on the French island of Corsica.Fedrigo, who won the event in 2010, finished ahead of Italys Rinaldo Nocentini and Lars-Petter Nordhaug of Norway.I did well but I am not at my top level, admitted 35-year-old Evans, whose best previous result was a sixth-place finish in 2010.Fedrigo, who celebrated his first win in FDJ colours after a year with the team, admitted: Cadel was huge today.It was an emotional win for the Frenchman, who missed the Tour de France last year when he was struck down by Lyme disease.However, he gave an indication of his powers of recovery by taking second place in Septembers Montreal Grand Prix.
