Plea seeking Babar's disqualification adjourned

Lahore High Court adjourned hearing of plea for disqualification of Babar Awan in Senate elections.

The counsel for the plaintiff told the court that Dr Babar Awan is involved in tax theft and his assets have increased enormously during the last few years.He contended befor the court that Babar, according to Article 62 of the constitution,do not meet the required criteriaprescribed for the candidates of Senate election.He prayed the court to cancel nominations papers of Babar Awan for Senate elections while declaring him ineligible for contesting the polls.Dr Babar Awan requested the court to give him more time to submit his reply in this regard.On this, Justice Umer Atta Bindial of Lahore High Court has adjourned the hearing till March 2.
