ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - President Asif Ali Zardari met Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Kareem Kundi at the President’s Office, where he was briefed on the overall security situation and the deteriorating law and order situation in the province.
According to sources, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also attended the meeting. The participants discussed the prevailing security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and held consultations on constitutional and legal matters related to the situation in the province.
Speaking informally to reporters after the meeting, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said there was no room left to avoid imposing an emergency in the province, adding that every possible effort had been made to avoid reaching that point.
Naqvi also referred to his efforts to address the situation, saying that Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Barrister Gohar could be asked about the steps he had taken to avoid the situation.
The meeting comes amid concerns over the law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with constitutional and legal options also under discussion.
