PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Sohail Khan Afridi has said he will not back down from his position despite threats of governor’s rule or an emergency in the province.
Addressing a meeting on law and order, Afridi said he would not compromise his ideology or accept any action that goes against the will and public mandate of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“I curse any chair that diverts me from my ideology,” he said, stressing that decisions contrary to the province’s public mandate were unacceptable.
The chief minister said Rs35 billion had been cut from the development budget and allocated to the police to strengthen security and maintain peace.

Earlier, Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar has said that the Constitution clearly lays down the procedure for imposing governor’s rule and declaring an emergency.
Speaking to journalists in Islamabad, Tarar said governor’s rule or an emergency could be imposed if the constitutional conditions and circumstances warrant such action.
He stressed that any such step would have to be taken within the framework provided by the Constitution.
