PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – The joint investigation team of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has made significant progress in the investigation into the Kohat Police Lines attack and traced the network allegedly involved in the assault.
According to investigation officials, two terrorist organisations allegedly joined hands to plan the attack on the Kohat Police Lines. The attackers reportedly wanted to storm the facility and free their associates from the CTD compound.
Officials said the terrorists had stayed in Kohat for several days before carrying out the attack. A raid was conducted at the house where they had allegedly stayed, resulting in the arrest of several people and the recovery of important evidence.
Investigators have also obtained data and other details related to the vehicle used by the suicide attacker. Further investigation is underway on the basis of the information and evidence collected during the probe.
According to officials, police, CTD and other law enforcement agencies successfully foiled the terrorists’ plan during the attack.
The investigators further revealed that the terrorists had also planned an attack on the Kohat Police Lines last year. However, the suspects were arrested before they could carry out the planned attack.
The latest findings are being examined as part of the ongoing investigation to identify other members of the alleged network and determine their roles in planning and facilitating the attack.
