Senate body proposes talks with Baloch 'renegades'

Senate committee has proposed new laws and broader talks to check conduct of security agencies.

The committee also expressed serious concerns over the law and order situation in Balochistan. It rejected the provincial governments report on law and order, terming thesituation on the gound very tense. The committee said if the government can talk to terror groups, why it cant talk to angy Baloch leaders.Senator Afrasiab Khattak, chairman of the Senate’s Standing Committee on Human Rights, told the media after the meeting on Wednesday that human right had been violated in the province at a large scale.The Awami National Party’s leader also said that violence in any form was unacceptable.He showed his concerns over the migration of teachers, doctors and professionals of other departments from the province to other parts of the country and termed it damaging for the people.Khattak also condemned incidents of target killing in Balochistan by militant groups and urged the government to take immediate steps to restore peace in the province.The case of missing persons in the Supreme Court has given a fresh spur to the issue.
