Summary Accuses federal govt of lacking interests in people’s affairs

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has said his province will become self-sufficient in many sectors by 2030.

Addressing a ceremony held here on Saturday to mark World Food Safety Day, Sohail Afridi said promoting awareness among the public about safe food is the need of the hour.

He said that the establishment of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority has improved the supply of healthy food. The importance of the food department is also greater because ‘our province is not self-sufficient in wheat’.

The KP CM said plans are being made for food self-sufficiency. In the upcoming budget, the budget of the Food Department will be increased and modern warehouses will be constructed.

Sohail Afridi said that by the year 2030, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will become self-sufficient in many sectors. Despite repeated letters, the ‘fake’ government of Punjab has stopped supplying wheat to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he alleged.

He said that when those with 17 seats are given power, they do not think about the interests of the people. The provincial government allocated Rs3billion for the CRBC project, but the federal government did not give a single rupee.

The CM said the federal government was committed to 80 percent funding in the CRBC project, but now it has come down to 65 percent. The KP has provided bridge financing of Rs4billion for the Northern Bypass project.

Sohail Afridi said that the Peshawar bus terminal is complete but the NHA is not issuing NOC for the route. The Swat Dam project is ready but the federal government is not issuing NOC for the visit of foreign engineers, he further alleged.
