5,000 Punjab Police personnel reach Gilgit-Baltistan for election duty

Summary As many as 1,958 ladies from the Punjab Highway Patrol Wing and 300 ladies from the Lahore Police also left for Gilgit-Baltistan.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Police’s 5,000 personnel including men and women on Saturday reached Gilgit-Baltistan for security duty in the general elections being held on Sunday (today).

According to sources, Punjab Police personnel have assumed their duties for the elections in Gilgit-Baltistan.

1,500 personnel from the RMP wing of the Punjab Police and 1,242 personnel from the Punjab Constabulary had reached Gilgit-Baltistan.

As many as 1,958 ladies from the Punjab Highway Patrol Wing and 300 ladies from the Lahore Police also left for Gilgit-Baltistan.

On the orders of the Punjab IG, the SSP MT Punjab had provided transport to the personnel and sent them to Gilgit-Baltistan.

Authorities have imposed Section 144 in the Diamer district to maintain law and order as preparations for the Gilgit-Baltistan General Assembly Elections 2026 have been completed.

Thousands of election officials have been deployed for duty across 24 constituencies. A total of 7,500 officers and staff members have been assigned election responsibilities.
