ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Negotiations between the government and the PPP on budget are likely to take place on Sunday (today).

According to government sources, President Asif Ali Zardari and a PPP team tasked with holding talks with the government will meet at 11pm.

Bilawal Bhutto, Murad Ali Shah, Syed Naveed Qamar and Sherry Rehman will participate in the meeting.

Sources said that a meeting with the government team will be scheduled after the PPP's internal meeting.

Government sources further said that the Centre is requesting funds of Rs1,700billion from the provinces, and the federal budget will be finalised only after the availability of these funds.

The federal government has proposed a 10 to 15 per cent increase in salaries for government employees in the Budget 2026-27, with final decisions expected after further consultations.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held discussions on the upcoming federal budget during an informal meeting at the Prime Minister House. The session was not officially covered and focused on key budgetary matters.

During the meeting, consultations were held on the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), taxation measures, and proposals related to salary and pension increases for the next fiscal year.
