PIA turmoil: Senators ask Mukhtar to resign

Senators have demanded Defence Minister Ahmed Mukhtar to tender resignation.

The incensed senators made the demand on the issue of losses being incurred by the Pakistan International Airlines.During the Senate session on Monday, the Defence Minister, whose responsibility includes the affairs of the PIA, said that somehow his ministry is managing the matters of the crippled national airline. He said the government is not willing to pay any funds for the welfare of the national airline.The senators said that if his ministry couldn’t run the PIA affairs properly, he should step down.During the grilling by senators, the defence minister said that the complaints of PIA staff and crews alleged misbehaviour with passengers would be dealt with sternly.
