BANNU (Dunya News) - A key link bridge in the Mamand Khel area of Bannu was destroyed after unidentified armed men planted explosives under the structure during the night, police confirmed on Sunday.

According to police officials, unknown suspects secretly installed an improvised explosive device beneath the bridge, which detonated with a powerful blast. The explosion caused significant damage to the structure, creating major difficulties for local residents who rely on the bridge for daily travel.

Authorities said the incident took place in the dark of night, and no injuries were reported. However, the bridge has been partially damaged, forcing people to take longer alternate routes. Police cordoned off the area soon after the blast, initiating a search operation.

Officials added that the motive behind the attack has not yet been determined, and investigations are currently underway.

Locals complained that the repeated destruction of link bridges has severely affected their routine life, especially for those travelling to work, schools, and markets.

It is worth mentioning that similar incidents have been reported in Mamand Khel before, where unknown militants have blown up several link bridges using explosives. Most of those bridges were later rebuilt on a temporary basis, but the cycle has continued.
