Aleema Khan allowed to go after temporary judicial custody in November 26 protest case

Aleema Khan appeared before the court and sought permission to leave because her lawyer was busy in the Supreme Court
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – The Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court allowed Aleema Khan, the sister of former prime minister Imran Khan, to go after approving two bail bonds of Rs1 million each in November 26 protest case on Wednesday.
She was taken into temporary judicial custody when she appeared before the court and sought permission to leave because her lawyer was busy in the Supreme Court. Prosecutor Zaheer Shah said that under Section 351 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), the accused is in judicial custody.
When Aleema Khan stepped out of the courtroom, female police officers took her into custody and brought her back inside the court. The court instructed that the accused must not leave the court premises. In the meantime, her lawyer Faisal Malik arrived in court.
Later, the court approved two bail bonds submitted by her and set her free. The court also imposed Rs10,000 fine each on eight witnesses for using delaying tactics in the case.
It may be recalled that the bail bonds were submitted by Aleema Khan during the previous hearing in compliance with the court’s order.
The court has previously issued multiple arrest warrants for Aleema Khan in the case.
The court, on the request of the defence counsel, adjourned further proceedings until December 1.
