PPP AJK parliamentary meeting ends inconclusive amid divisions over prime minister nominee; leadership takes decision-making authority, expected to announce candidate soon in Muzaffarabad.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) parliamentary party meeting concluded without any outcome as internal divisions over the nomination for the new prime minister persisted.
According to PPP sources, disagreements continue within the AJK chapter over the candidate for prime minister. The party leadership has so far failed to resolve groupings within the parliamentary party.
Sources revealed that factions within the parliamentary party refused to withdraw support for their respective candidates. The party remains divided into groups led by Sardar Yaqoob, Latif Akbar, and Chaudhry Yasin.

The PPP leadership was also unable to convince members to unite on a single candidate for the premiership. As a result, the leadership has withdrawn the authority to decide the prime minister’s name from the parliamentary party.
On the other hand, the decision regarding the AJK prime ministerial candidate will now be made directly by the PPP leadership, with an official announcement expected soon in Muzaffarabad.
