Coalition partners repose confidence in PM

The coalition partners assured full support to the Prime Minister in dealing all the matters.

Reposing their full confidence in Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani,leaders of coalition partners of the PPP decided that the Prime Minister will appear before the Supreme Court on January 19 in contempt of court notice.A meeting of the Parliamentary Committee of the coalition partners of government was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister and discussed the present political situation of the country and the resolution moved in the National Assembly.Later, President Asif Ali Zardari also attended the meeting and discussed the present political situation with the leaders of coalition partners.President Zardari said that there is no clash between the institutions. The President said the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) always gave respect and honour to all the institutions, especially the courts.The meeting was attended by Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Asfandyar Wali, Farooq Sattar, Munir Orakzai, Israrullah Zehri and other leaders of the political parties present in the coalition.Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani while addressing the meeting said the government has respect and honour for all the institutions, including the Supreme Court.He said the government did not want any confrontation with any institution, including the courts. Presenting the parliamentary history on this occasion, the Prime Minister said in the past prime ministers were imposed on the Parliament but now it has become independent to elect its own leader of the house.The present democratic system has been strengthening its roots and proving that it is strong enough and under this system problems of the people are being resolved, he added.He said the government initiated policy of reconciliation and taking along all the political forces on all the issues either related to security or political activities.The Prime Minister said the government has full respect and hounour for the courts and always accepted their decisions.Gilani said the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) respected institutions and believed in the independence of judiciary.He said the government believes in resolving the problems through negotiations and reconciliation. The Prime Minister said the affairs of government are being run smoothly in collaboration with the allied parties through mutual consultation.While addressing the meeting, all the coalition partners assured their full support and strength to the Prime Minister in dealing all the matters, especially the issue of notice under contempt of court issued to the Prime Minister by the Supreme Court.Meanwhile, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr.Firdous Ashiq Awan, while briefing newsmen after the meeting of the coalition partners, said the PPP always respected institutions and believed in the independence of judiciary.She said the Prime Minister will appear before the court on January 19. The Information Minister said the government believes in resolving the problems through negotiations.The affairs of government are being run smoothly in collaboration with the allied parties, she added.
