MULTAN (Dunya News) - At least four people including a woman drowned in Chenab River as a rescue boat capsized near Jalalpur Pirwala area of Multan, the officials said.
According to rescue officials, the boat was evacuating over 25 people to safer location when it lost balance in deep waters and overturned.
Despite efforts, four individuals drowned before they could be saved.
The victims were identified as 70-year-old Bakht Suwai, 6-years-old Fatima, Mahnoor and Rehan.
Rescue teams, along with the local residents, managed to retrieve the bodies from the river, while the remaining people were safely evacuated to a secure location.
Eyewitnesses reported that the boat lost balance after entering deeper waters, which led to the deadly accident.

The authorities are conducting investigation and rescue operation in the area.
Earlier, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said that 907 people have lost their lives in recent monsoon and floods.

According to the report, a total of 1,044 people have been injured, while thousands of homes and livestock have also been affected throughout the country.
The report said that 223 people died in Punjab while 654 got injured in the province.
The monsoon and floods killed 502 people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while 218 got injured.
As many as 58 people died and 78 got injured in Sindh, the report said.
