Medical experts repeatedly examined PTI founder for chronic issues
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – A two-year medical report of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder was presented before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi.
The hearing took place under Judge Amjad Ali Shah, following a petition submitted by Aleema Khan regarding the health examination of the PTI founder.
According to the report, the Adiala Jail superintendent submitted comprehensive medical records outlining various health complaints. The report highlighted issues related to teeth, ear, nose, and throat, in addition to other medical concerns.
The report also noted that the PTI founder has been experiencing problems with eyesight and bones. It stated that ophthalmologists, orthopaedic surgeons, and ENT specialists have conducted several examinations and provided treatment on multiple occasions.
The medical records further revealed that treatment for elevated cholesterol levels is underway. Jail authorities assured the court that all recommended treatments and prescribed medicines have been provided promptly and without delay.
Former prime minister Imran Khan has been in detention since August 2023 following a prison term imposed in the Toshakhana state-gifts case. Since then, he has remained incarcerated in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, amid multiple convictions — most notably a 14-year sentence in a high-value land corruption case.
