Tensions rise as Indian propaganda resurfaces ahead of Bihar state elections
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – As elections near in the Indian state of Bihar, fresh propaganda targeting Pakistan has surfaced.
On 28 August 2025, Indian media, reportedly influenced by the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), alleged that three Pakistani nationals had illegally entered Bihar through Kathmandu. The reports branded them as terrorists and triggered a red alert across the state.
Soon after the claims, statements from all three Pakistanis emerged, alongside evidence that they were travelling legitimately to Cambodia via Nepal and Malaysia for employment.
Hasnain Ali, one of the travellers, departed for Malaysia on 28 August aboard a Batik Airways flight. He explained that his brief stay in Nepal was for tourism before continuing to Cambodia and eventually returning to Pakistan.
Muhammad Usman, son of Basharat and a resident of Bahawalpur, left for Kathmandu on 8 August via Dubai. He dismissed the Indian reports as fabricated, stating that no truth existed in claims portraying him as a terrorist.
Adil Hussain, from Mirpur Khas, also travelled to Kathmandu on 8 August aboard flight FZ 344. He confirmed he had reached Cambodia on 27 August for work after a short recreational stop in Nepal.
This controversy follows heightened tensions earlier in the year. In May, Pakistan retaliated to Indian attacks by destroying seven aircraft, including three Rafales, along with damage to several airbases.
Pakistan has repeatedly cautioned the international community that India, in a bid to overcome the humiliation of “Operation Sandoor”, may continue detaining Pakistanis and Kashmiris illegally and stage-managed encounters to falsely label them as terrorists.
