Decision not to contest by-polls made in political committee: Waqas Akram

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram on Wednesday said that the decision not to contest the by-elections was made in the party’s political committee.

Speaking on Dunya News’ programme “Dunya Meher Bokhari Kay Sath”, Sheikh Waqas Akram stated that the PTI founder had referred the matter of by-elections back to the political committee, where extensive consultations were held.

The PTI Secretary of Information further stated that the political committee meeting lasted three to four hours, during which the decision was made not to participate in the by-elections.

He added that the political committee is being criticized on social media, but by referring the matter to the political committee, the PTI founder gave a “shut-up call” to those spreading propaganda.

Sheikh Waqas Akram further said that, in accordance with Imran Khan’s instructions, PTI members of the National Assembly immediately resigned from the standing committees.
