SC orders KP govt to submit record in fake degree case
Pakistan
Sifatullah claims he was appointed on merit
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday ordered the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to submit the complete record in the case related to a fake degree of teacher Sifatullah.
During the hearing, Justice Hassan Rizvi remarked that the government should verify degrees before appointing candidates. “How long does it take to verify a degree?” he questioned.
Additional Advocate General Shah Faisal stated that degree verification is done after hiring, and the degree Sifatullah presented was from a non-registered madrassa.
In his defence, teacher Sifatullah claimed that he was appointed on merit, and a departmental inquiry ruled in his favor.
Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan asked, “It’s 2025 now — what has the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government done since 2019?” The Additional Advocate General replied that when Sifatullah was issued a show-cause notice, he presented a degree from another madrassa.
The SC has now summoned the case record and adjourned further hearing.
