TEHRAN (Dunya News) – Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has begun his official visit to Iran with a series of high-level meetings in Tehran.
He met Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi, followed by a separate discussion with Kamal Kharrazi, head of Iran’s Strategic Council on Foreign Relations. The engagements focused on the Gaza conflict, Pakistan-Iran relations and broader issues of concern to the Muslim world.
During his talks with Araqchi, the Iranian Foreign Minister stated that the West was punishing Iran for its steadfast support of the Palestinian cause. He said that after the recent war, ties between Iran and Pakistan had become closer, while describing Israel’s existence as a danger to peace across the Islamic world. Araqchi also expressed appreciation to Jamaat-e-Islami for organising rallies in solidarity with Palestine and Iran.
Iranian position on Gaza
In his separate meeting with Kharrazi, Hafiz Naeem heard sharp criticism of Western governments. Kharrazi described their stance on Gaza as “hypocritical,” saying the conflict had exposed their true face beneath claims of freedom and human rights. He added that Israel’s actions in Gaza, Iran and Syria underscored the threat posed by the Zionist regime to the entire region.
Kharrazi stressed that Islamic nations must end their inaction, resist firmly and employ their full capabilities in response, the Mehr News Agency reported.
“One soul in two bodies”
At both meetings, Hafiz Naeem emphasised the importance of deepening ties between Pakistan and Iran, describing the two countries as “one soul in two bodies.” He said his visit was intended as a gesture of solidarity with the Iranian government and people.
He added that Pakistanis thought beyond sectarian divisions and that Jamaat-e-Islami would continue to play its role in strengthening unity within the Muslim Ummah. He also hailed Iran’s response to Israel during the recent 12-day war as “devastating” and a model for other Muslim countries.
Calls for cooperation
Hafiz Naeem underlined that both Islamabad and Tehran must take practical steps towards strengthening peace, fraternity and economic progress.
The JI emir noted that greater cooperation in these areas was vital for the wellbeing of both nations and for confronting challenges across the Islamic world.
