LAHORE (Muhammad Hasan Raza) – The Punjab government has issued orders for the transfer of several senior officers.

Commissioner Lahore Division, Zaid Bin Maqsood, has been transferred and granted permission to attend the National Security and War Course at the National Defence University. In his place, Deputy Commissioner Lahore Syed Musa Raza has been given the additional charge of Commissioner Lahore Division.

Meanwhile, Syed Tahir Raza Hamdani has been assigned the additional charge of Executive Director of Alhamra Arts Council, and Dr Nasir Mahmood Bashir, Managing Director of the Tourism Department, has also been transferred. He too has been allowed to undertake the National Security and War Course. A formal notification has been issued by the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) in this regard.

During his tenure as Commissioner Lahore Division, Zaid Bin Maqsood has been widely recognised for his dynamic leadership, timely decision-making, and dedication to public service. He built a strong and active team in Lahore Division, ensuring their presence in the field to resolve public issues promptly.

He took proactive measures ahead of the monsoon season, which led to the efficient drainage of rainwater within a few hours, even during heavy downpours. His coordination with departments such as LDA, WASA, and the district administration played a pivotal role in the success of these efforts. He regularly inspected the drainage operations himself and ensured transparency and swift response.

Zaid Bin Maqsood conducted self-inspections to maintain transparency in the repair and construction of 5,735 streets and 278 roads. Under his supervision, 3,403 tuff tiles and 2,332 PCC units were successfully installed. He remained focused on timely completion and quality assurance of development projects worth billions of rupees.

In partnership with Deputy Commissioner Lahore Syed Musa Raza, he made no compromises on quality. His efforts significantly contributed to improving law and order during Muharram and other critical occasions. He also oversaw the establishment of a central control room, deployment of medical teams, sanitation facilities, lighting, temporary toilets, and effective drainage systems.

Zaid Bin Maqsood ensured top-level arrangements for highways, security, and public facilities. His consistent supervision at the local government level accelerated development work and improved overall service delivery.

He made frequent visits to Lahore, Sheikhupura, and Kasur to oversee the planning and approval of development schemes. Lahore was declared the cleanest city during Eid-ul-Adha due to his initiatives. He personally conducted late-night emergency visits to inspect and improve the sanitation system.

Zaid Bin Maqsood also revitalised the Lahore Divisional Coordination Committee, holding regular meetings, addressing ongoing issues, and ensuring swift departmental action through continuous engagement and follow-ups.
