Army conducts helicopter rescue mission for stranded tourists in Deosai, Babusar

SKARDU (Dunya News) – The Pakistan Army’s rescue operation to save tourists stranded in Deosai is successfully underway. Tourists are being airlifted to safe locations via helicopters in Babusar and surrounding areas.
Restoration work on the Skardu Road is also being carried out by the Pakistan Army. With the support of army pilots and engineering teams, the rescue efforts continue. The area affected by landslides between Skardu and the Sadpara Mountaineering School has now been declared clear.
The route from Deosai to Sadpara village has also been reopened, while army personnel are actively working to clear remaining landslides.
The Pakistan Army is also providing food and other essential supplies to stranded tourists in the affected areas. Around 150 ready-to-eat meal packets have been dispatched via helicopters.
On the Babusar road, tourists and passengers who were stuck have been airlifted to safety. So far, 15 helicopter sorties have been conducted to move people to secure areas.

Teams from the Pakistan Army and Gilgit-Baltistan Scouts are distributing food supplies to the affected individuals and providing immediate medical assistance to the injured. Heavy machinery and personnel are working continuously to restore the roads.
Debris is being cleared from Babusar Road and the Karakoram Highway, with round-the-clock efforts underway to reopen routes. Search and rescue teams have also been dispatched to locate missing persons, including in difficult mountainous terrain.
The professionalism and rapid response of the army and rescue personnel have saved many lives. Relevant departments are taking coordinated actions to handle the situation, and the public is strongly advised to avoid traveling to affected areas for their safety.
