PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar said that there will be no further dialogue or negotiations with dissident party members ahead of Senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Speaking to Dunya News on Saturday, he expressed surprise that some sitting lawmakers are supporting the disgruntled candidates in KP.

“There will be no more talks with the dissident candidates. It's unfortunate that some members are backing them,” PTI chairman said.

He added that the party’s decision is final and there is no room for confusion.

He confirmed that the Senate elections scheduled for July 21 will proceed at any cost.

It merits mention here that PTI faced internal disagreements and resistance during the Senate elections in KP, as veteran workers and leaders who were overlooked in the selection process announced protests.

According to sources, several leaders including Irfan Saleem, Ayesha Bano, Waqas Orakzai, and Khurram Zeeshan were displeased with the party leadership and protested over the distribution of Senate tickets. The protesting leaders claimed that the party failed to uphold the principles of justice by ignoring long-time workers.

Earlier, the political committee of PTI unanimously approved unopposed senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to sources, PTI has finalised the candidates for the Senate elections being held in KP.

They include Murad Saeed, Faisal Javed, Mirza Khan Afridi, and Pir Noorul Haq Qadri for the general seats. Rubina Naz has been nominated for the women’s reserved seat, Azam Swati for the technocrat seat, and Mishal Yousafzai has been nominated to fill the seat vacated by former senator Sania Nishtar.
