Gas cut: Consumers turn to streets

All major cities are witnessing protests against hike in gas tariff and gas loadshedding.

In Faizabad, Rawalpindi, angry protesrters blocked the road leading to Islamabad by torching tyres Monday afternoon. Police baton charged the protesters to disperse them.A vehicle was reportedly torched by protesters in Islamabad.More than 600 CNG stations of Khyber PakhtunKhawa have been closed for indefinite time period. Long queues were witnessed at filling stations.People and transporters protested against the closure of CNG and also blocked the GT Road. Fares of local transport have also been increased autonomously in Khyber Pakntunkhawa.Similarly, people of Faisalabad are also protesting against gas-shedding for consecutive 8 day to industries and for 6 days to CNG stations. Labourers and citizens staged a protest at Sidhar bypass on Jhang Road and blocked the traffic.Labourers also organized protest rallies against gas stoppage in Small Industrial State and Khurarianwala and chanted slogans against gas closure.The protesters also protested on Sargodha Road and GTS chowk. The rikshaw drivers blocked the traffic by standing Rikshaws on the road.Meanwhile, weekly gas load shedding of CNG stations of Lahore has been started from Monday morning.
