Power, gas crisis intensifies

The crisis has intensifies in the country due to power and gas load shedding.

According to PEPCO sources, the oil supply by PSO has been reduced and Rs 10 billion is required to restore the supply at sufficient level.On the other hand, the power production by the IPPs has also reduced due to shortage of gas and shortfall has reached 4300 megawatts.Due to load unscheduled load shedding by National Power Control Centre, urban areas are facing minimum 8-hour power load shedding while in rural areas it has reached up to 14 hours.Moreover, CNG sector is facing 3-day gas suspension in a week and textile sector 4 days a week, while the gas supply to non-textile industry has been suspended for indefinite period.
