ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has reached here to review steps for improving working of anti-corruption institutions and reform governance.

Sources said that the IMF delegation will stay in Pakistan until February 14.

According to sources, anti-corruption and anti-money laundering measures are part of the $7 billion bailout package. The delegation will meet with officials of various institutions and ministries, including the NAB and judiciary.

The delegation is also likely to meet with officials of the Judicial Commission and the Supreme Court, they added.

Sources said that discussions are likely on the independence of the judiciary and the procedure for appointing judges. The meetings aim to review measures to improve the rule of law, curb corruption and prevention of money laundering.

According to sources, an IMF mission will soon visit Islamabad to assess the economic situation of Pakistan.
