Air purifiers to be installed across Punjab to combat smog

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency Director General Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh has directed to install air purifiers across all districts of Punjab to combat smog.
This decision has been made in the wake of hazardous air quality in Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad and Gujranwala.
The notification for the installation of air purifiers was also issued.
According to notification, the directions had been made to install air purifiers in shopping malls and commercial plazas.
The number of air purifiers must be adequate and reasonable.
Owners of shopping malls and plazas have been advised to ensure the availability of clean air for customers.
The Punjab capital, Lahore, remained in the grip of dense smog on Sunday morning with visiblity reduced to a few meters in the suburban areas.
Seven people have been killed in smog and fog related traffic accidents in different part of the country on Sunday.
MOTORWAYS CLOSED DUE TO LOW VISIBILITY
Meanwhile, Motorways Police on Sunday closed the road at different sections due to dense smog.
According to Motorways Police spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed section M2 from Lahore to Kot Momin has been closed since early Sunday due to fog and smog.
Motorway M4 has been closed from Pindi Bhatian to Abdul Hakeem while M5 from Multan to Sukkur, the spokesman said.
He advised road users to travel during the day - from 10 am to 6 pm - to avoid any untoward incident.
