Sindh Assembly passes resolution for constitutional benches

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Sindh Assembly has passed a resolution for formation of constitutional benches unanimously.
The Sindh Assembly speaker chaired the house session where a motion for resolution on constitutional benches was presented.
The resolution was moved by the provincial Minister for Law, Parliamentary and Home Affairs Zia Lanjar. The MPAs participated in the voting on the resolution in the house.
MQM-P, PPP, and PTI members voted in the favour of the resolution while JI member Muhammad Farooq opposed the resolution.
Around 123 members of the assembly voted in support of the resolution, consequently the resolution was passed unanimously.
Addressing the Sindh Assembly session, Murad Ali Shah asserted that all provinces would benefit from the 26th amendment ensuring provision of justices and reducing backlog of cases.
The resolution was passed in the right time and it’s the indication of responsible governance, Murad Ali Shah insisted.
Shah stressed that benefits and fruit of the 26th amendment would be served to the public as soon as possible.
Sindh CM disclosed that strength of high courts judges would also be increased, emphasising on the immediate formation of constitutional benches.
Zia Lanjar stated that the resolution was necessary and a constitutional requirement under Article 202 A sub-clause 6 of the constitution.
