Naqvi clarifies government will not tolerate any attempt to set up alternate judicial system
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has stated the government has no objection to holding of jirgas but it will not allow the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) to establish a parallel court.
During a press conference in Islamabad, he emphasised jirgas were traditionally conducted by the tribal elders.
He expressed concerns over PTM calling their gatherings as ‘Jirgas’ and simultaneously referring to them as courts.
Naqvi clarified the government would not tolerate any attempt to set up an alternate judicial system.
He also criticised PTM for using derogatory language against the state and police, urging them to address their rights without promoting division or violence.
