RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – The Punjab government on Friday imposed Section 144 ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) protest in Rawalpindi.
Moreover, the provincial administration also banned all types of gatherings and political activities in the city.
The Home Department issued a notification to this effect. The department also forwarded a letter to the federal government to deploy Rangers.
Earlier, the district administration Friday sealed Liaqat Bagh premises in response to PTI's call for a protest on September 28.
Sources reported that locks have been placed on the gates of the park, and a substantial number of police deployed both inside and outside the premises. People who had come to the park for a walk were reportedly asked to leave as part of security measures.
PTI urged its supporters to gather at Liaqat Bagh by 2PM on Saturday.

On the other hand, the PTI finalised its strategy for tomorrow‘s protest at Liaqat Bagh, Rawalpindi. According to party sources, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur will lead the protest.
The PTI leaders from Islamabad will head to Liaqat Bagh in convoys, with party workers instructed to gather there by 2pm.
In case of roadblocks, the workers will protest where they can. The convoys from Islamabad, northern Punjab, and KP will join the Rawalpindi protest.
Legal support will be provided by the Insaf Lawyers Forum in case of arrests, the sources said.
