Constitutional amendment draft should be made public, says Barrister Saif
Pakistan
Fears stifling of rule of law at the hands of federal govt
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Adviser Barrister Saif on Thursday asked the federal government to make draft of the proposed constitutional amendments public.
In a statement, Saif said that draft of the proposed constitutional amendment should be brought into public for discussion through media, adding that the federal government was answerable to the nation as Pakistan had become a laughing stock in front of the whole world ever since constitutional package started making news in the media.
“The fake government is trying to attack democracy through constitutional package. The draft wasn’t even shown to members of national assembly (MNAs) belonging to the treasury benches. The MNAs are being threatened to vote in favour of the amendment,” he reiterated.
He also demanded clarification from Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa on the said matter, adding that the CJP should ‘morally’ resign from all the positions.
