Govt decides to import new passport printing machines

New machines will be ordered in September
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The government stepped up steps to end the passport crisis across the country by ordering new passport printing machines.
The DG Passport and Immigration prepared a requisition and sent it to the Ministry of Interior.

Sources say that new machines will be ordered from abroad in September. It is learnt that 6 desktops and 2 e-passport machines will be ordered initially. The new machines are capable of printing 1000 passports in an hour.
Sources further said passports have been delayed for the past year nationwide. The reason for this slow working was the low efficiency of machinery.
