Justice Aalia Neelum appointed her as LHC registrar
LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Lahore High Court (LHC) has made history by appointing the first woman as registrar.
Newly elected Chief Justice Aalia Neelum appointed Abher Gul Khan as registrar of LHC, replacing ex-registrar Abdur Rasheed.
It is pertinent to note that, for the very first time in the history of LHC, a woman has been appointed as registrar. Earlier, today, Justice Aalia Neelum was sworn in as the first woman chief justice of LHC.
It may be noted that Ayesha Malik is the first woman Supreme Court judge. Justice Ayesha Malik ruled out two‐finger tests used to establish the virginity of female victims of sexual offence as unscientific and without medical grounds.
Justice Syeda Tahira Safdar was the first woman to be elevated to the rank of chief justice in any court of Pakistan. She was sworn in as chief justice of the Balochistan High Court (BHC).
Justice Musarrat Hilali was sworn in as the first woman chief justice of the Peshawar High Court (PHC).
It is quite welcoming and progressive development, women trailblazers are making their marks and thriving in their respective fields.
Elevation of women to higher ranks in their fields inspire young women and create a safe space for them.
Fearless and courageous women are now entering into the judiciary, a male-dominate sector and making the judicial system accessible and equitable for women.
