Election Act amendments meant for protecting fake government: Barrister Saif
Pakistan
Labels it a black law
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Adviser Barrister Saif said on Wednesday changes to the Election Act were meant for protection of fake government formed on Form 47.
He responded to the new development in Election Act, asserting these amendments were meant to delay justice and abolish transparency. "We reject this black law," he said.
He also announced that the KP Assembly had approved the resolution against the law.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) gets power to appoint serving as well as retired judges in the election tribunal, according to the amended law.
The ECP is going to set up new tribunals comprising retired high court judges without consulting the high court chief justices.
