Elections rigging allegations
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Former Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chattha has been arrested and shifted to unknown location, Dunya News reported on Saturday.
Earlier, the commissioner had resigned after a press conference in which he claimed that the elections held on February 8 were manipulated and rigged in Rawalpindi Division.
The claim was vehemently rejected by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Later, in a press conference on Saturday night newly-appointed Rawalpindi commissioner and Rawalpindi Division District Returning Officers (DROs) rejected allegations that the elections were rigged and manipulated.
They held a press conference to refute the rigging allegations and demand an investigation into the matter.
They claimed the elections were transparent and organised in a transparent manner, adding there was no pressure on them to commit rigging.
