ECP forms probe body following Rawalpindi commissioner's rigging 'confession'

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Saturday constituted a high-level committee to probe the allegations levelled by the Rawalpindi commissioner regarding electoral rigging in his division.
According to details, the committee will submit its report to the ECP within three days.
A crucial meeting was held at the ECP Office in Islamabad after the allegations levelled by the Rawalpindi commissioner.
During the meeting, the allegations levelled by the commissioner were discussed in detail.
According to the ECP spox, the probe committee will be headed by Sindh’s Election Commission senior member Nisar Durrani. Other members include the secretary, special secretary and additional director general (law).
The first meeting of the committee will be held on Sunday. Election Commission member Nisar Durrani will preside over the session.
The committee will record the statements of the DROs of Rawalpindi and the ROs concerned in this regard.
According to the spokesperson, after the report of the committee, a decision will be taken about the contempt of the Election Commission and other legal proceedings against the Rawalpindi commissioner.
