PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will ask its candidates who contested Feb 8 elections as independents to join their own party instead of any other party.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the PTI core committee held here on Friday.

The committee decided to move the Peshawar High Court (PTC) with a plea that the PTI is a registered party. It was disallowed to contest election on its bat symbol and its candidates took part in polls as independents.

The PTI core committee entrusted Advocate Qazi Anwar the task to file a petition before the PHC. In its petition, the PTI will also submit that it should be allowed to get the reserved seats of women and minorities as it won the highest number of seats in the National Assembly elections.

It may be recalled that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had on Dec 22 decided against letting the PTI retain its ‘bat’ electoral symbol after rejecting intra-party elections it held on Dec 3.
