LAHORE (Dunya News) -  In the provincial capital of Lahore, a fierce electoral competition is expected as more than 1,079 candidates are contending for 44 seats in the national and provincial assemblies.

The electoral landscape reveals a diverse array of contenders vying for representation in both the National Assembly and the Punjab Assembly.

For the 14 seats in the National Assembly, a total of 266 candidates have entered the fray, while 813 candidates are competing for the 30 constituencies in Lahore for Punjab Assembly seats.

In the electoral battleground of NA-127, a record-high 27 candidates are facing off, including prominent figures such as Pakistan Peoples Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Attaullah Tarar of PML-N, PTI-backed Zaheer Abbas Khokhar, and Jamat-e-Islami’s candidate Ahsanullah Waqas.

Conversely, NA-118 sees the least number of candidates with only 18 contenders vying for elections.

The electoral dynamics further intensify in Punjab Assembly constituency PP-161, where 46 candidates are competing for a single seat, setting the stage for a fiercely contested battle.

However, in PP-150, the competition appears less intense, with only 13 candidates fighting for the Punjab Assembly seat.

As the electoral process unfolds, all eyes are on Lahore as political parties and independent candidates navigate the complex terrain in pursuit of victory and representation in the esteemed national and provincial assemblies.
