ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong arrived in Pakistan on Saturday to partake in the fourth meeting of the CPEC-Joint Working Group on International Cooperation and Coordination scheduled in Islamabad for Sunday (tomorrow).

According to details, the meeting will be co-chaired by Foreign Secretary Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi and Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong.

Weidong is anticipated to engage with the senior leadership of the country in addition to the official discussions.

Pakistan has experienced a substantial increase of 39.44 percent in the export of goods and services to China during the first five months of the current fiscal year 2023-24, compared to the corresponding period last year.

Data from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) reveals that from July to November 2023-24, overall exports to China amounted to $1223.532 million, a significant rise from $877.444 million recorded during the same period in the previous fiscal year 2022-23.

On a year-on-year basis, exports to China soared by 36.29 percent from $199.058 million in November 2022 to $271.316 million in November 2023.

However, there was a month-on-month decrease in exports to China during November 2023 by 14.90 percent compared to October 2023, where exports were $318.842 million, according to SBP data.

Overall, Pakistan's exports to other countries demonstrated a growth of 4.99 percent in the first five months, increasing from $11.915 billion to $12.510 billion, as reported by SBP.
