Country in grip of biting cold with no chance of rain in Lahore

Met Office forecast for Balochistan came true as rain and snowfall added to the chill

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Rain and snowfall on Monday added to chill in the country as cold weather continues. 

Cold wind dropped temperature to 6 degrees Celsius in Lahore, but there is no chance of rain in the provincial capital and elsewhere in the province as predicted by the Met Office.

However, Met Office forecast for Balochistan came true as rain and snowfall added to the chill. Provincial capital Quetta, Naseerabad, Bolan, Dera Bugti and Kalat received rain snow while while snowfall in Ziarat increased the severity of cold.

On the northern mountainous regions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit Baltistan, snowfall dropped temperature in Skardu to -10, Kalam to -5 C, Chitral to -3 C and Dir to -2.

Moreover, temperature in Peshawar, Parachinar, Malam Jabba, Lipa Valley, Neelam Valley and the upper reaches fell below freezing point.

The Meteorological Department has forecast more snowfall and rain in mountainous areas of Balochistan, while the weather will remain cold and dry in other districts of the province. It has also predicted rise in chill and fog later in the week.
