ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday ruled that trial of PTI founder and a former member of the party Fawad Chaudhry will be conducted in Adiala Jail on contempt charges.

The PTI founder and former party member Fawad Chaudhry are accused of committing contempt of ECP and the chief election commissioner (CEC). The ECP pronounced its reserved verdict in the contempt case.

The Election Commission took the decision after taking input from the law and interior ministries. The former prime minister will now be indicted in jail. In this regard the ECP has directed the interior ministry to make necessary arrangements and submit a report within two days. This will be for the first time in ECP's history that commission will conduct any trial in jail. The indictment will be made on December 13.

It may be recalled that the Interior Ministry had excused itself from presenting founder of the PTI before the ECP due to security concerns. Acting on the advice of the ministry, the ECP decided to hold trial in jail.
