ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday fixed for hearing a petition seeking same day elections in the country.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa will hear the petition on October 24. Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Aminuddin will also be part of the bench.

The Supreme Court has issued notices to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and political parties in this regard.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Friday fixed two cases—civilians’ trials in the military courts and general elections in 90-days--for hearing on Oct 23.

A five-member bench headed by Justice Ijazul Ahsan will hear the case of civilians’ trials on Oct 23 (Monday) at 11:30am and notices have been issued to the parties concerned. Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi and Justice Ayesha A. Malik are part of the bench.

The apex court heard the same case on Aug 3 last.

On July 21, the former chief justice of the Supreme Court, Umer Atta Bandial, had issued directions that without informing the apex court civilians trials should not be initiated in the military courts and responsible persons would be summoned in case of order violation.
