LAHORE (Dunya News) - The City Saturday night received heavy rain, turning the weather cold and with people taking it as a harbinger of winter.

The rain, hailstorm and strong winds also lashed different parts of upper Punjab which brought down temperature shapely but left several areas without electricity.

With the torrential rain as usual parts of the City plunged into darkness as most the of Wpada feeders tripped, disrupting power supply to the City areas.

Low-lying areas came under water, setting Wasa staff on work who were taking measures on a war footing to remove the rainwater from roads and streets, besides clearing chocked manholes and drains.

Experts see the downpour beneficial for the people, particularly for those who down with flue, dry cough and sore throat.

There is a prediction that the rain will continue in intervals for two to three days, igniting hope that the blanket of fog, which is becoming thick day by day, will now die down, following the rain.

Everything – roads, streets and rooftops of homes in Wazirabad and its suburbs turned white after a hailstorm. Similarly, hail and heavy rain inundated low-lying areas, bazaars and streets in Narowal.

The situation was no different in Tala Gang and Kharian where heavy rain and hail disturbed routine life. There was smog in Lahore and its outskirts in the morning as the air quality index (AQI) rose to 179. However, strong winds started blowing in the morning turned the weather pleasant.

The humidity level was recorded at 79 percent. The inclement weather is likely to negatively affect rice crop in these areas.
