Lahore tops list of cities with worst air quality in world
LAHORE (Dunya News) – With its unhealthy air quality levels, Lahore topped the list of most polluted cities in the world on Friday.
According to the IQAir, a Swiss maker of air purifiers, Lahore stood first among the cities with the most polluted air, followed by Jakarta, Indonesia on the second spot and Delhi, India, claiming the third.
The IQAir put the PM2.5 concentration in Lahore around 163, about 15.8 times the WHO annual air quality guideline value, classifying the Punjab capital under the ‘unhealthy’ category of air quality.
The World Health Organization recommends a maximum PM2.5 concentration of 5 micrograms per cubic metre.
The IQAir measures air quality levels on the basis of the concentration of lung-damaging airborne particles known as PM2.5.
