ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Former federal minister and senior PML-N leader Khawaja Asif says a Supreme Court judge was elevated on merit.
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), he said he was an eyewitness to the judge's appointment in the Supreme Court.
Commenting on the professional and personal life of the judge, a vlog on a social media website claims that her appointment to the Lahore High Court was a result of a recommendation.
The PMLN leader sharing that post said under normal circumstances he would not have commented on it. However, he said, he knew the judge personally and was member of the parliamentary committee which was responsible for confirming the appointment of the judges.
He said an attempt had been made to concoct a 'story' in this video.
Explaining the situation, he said when name of the lady judge was discussed in the committee, the amount of her paid annual income tax was very high, which impressed all members. "The committed assigned me the responsibility to confirm the income tax payment and I had done the task with the help of a lawyer of Karachi."
He said the lawyer not only praised the practice of the judge but also testified to her honesty which was evident in the tax amount.
