Initial probe holds driver responsible for Metro bus accident in Lahore

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Punjab Mass Transit Authority has completed an initial probe into an accident on the metro track near Janazgaah bus stop. 

According to sources, the authorities have decided to register a case and initiate legal proceedings against the driver for what is being considered 'criminal negligence'. 

An initial audit of the damage details that due to the accident, the vehicle’s windscreen, side-view mirror, engine, body, front pillar and entrance gate were damaged.

Eyewitnesses said the accident took place when the Metro Bus No 16 hit a broken iron rod purportedly hanging from the fence of the bus track near Janazgaah stop around Saturday afternoon.

Earlier in April, the same bus had met with another accident near the Nishtar Town bus stop, when it hit an allied power generator due to speeding, on its way to Gajjumattah from Shahdara. In that incident, the bus windshield, body and bumper were partially damaged. 

According to earlier reports, eight women were injured in the accident and they were transported to the Mayo Hospital for emergency treatment.
