Apt response to May 9 incident saved country from mega disaster, says PM

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said a conspiracy was hatched against the state and COAS Gen Syed Asim Munir and security institutions on May 9.

He mentioned that this conspiracy was foiled due to the appropriate response of the security institutions.

The PM, speaking at the farewell meeting of the cabinet, said that National Assembly had trusted him on 11 April 2022 mentioning that it was the shortest government in the country’s history.

The chief executive highlighted the problems faced by government shortly after coming to power as the recent flood caused havoc in Pakistan and during the flood, the four provinces worked day and night, Rs80 billion was distributed through the Benazir Income Support Program.

The PM praised the administration of Sindh, adding the Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto and Sindh Chief Minister worked day and night during the flood and no discrimination was made with any province during the flood relief effort. 

The premier added that there were numerous reasons for inflation and he shifted the blame on the four-year negligence of the precious government as the name of Pakistan was badly damaged on the internal and external front during the PTI government.

He said that he was grateful to Nawaz Sharif, Asif Zardari, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui for their continuous support during the difficult time.

The PM praised the effort of Ishaq Dar for the revival of the IMF programme mentioning it would not have happened without his sincere effort.

The premier highlighted that the tragedy of May 9 had left the whole country in history, adding it was the worst conspiracy against the country.
