ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The country's first music policy was approved in the farewell meeting of the federal cabinet headed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The farewell session was held at PM House in which Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, Maryam Aurangzeb, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Mian Javed Latif, Azam Nazir Tarar and Naveed Qamar participated.
Maulana Asad Mehmood, Syed Aminul Haq, Agha Hasan Baloch, Tahir Bashir Cheema, Murtaza Javed Abbasi, Aoon Chaudhary, Sherry Rehman, Qamar Zaman Kaira and Maulana Abdul Wase also participated in the farewell meeting of the cabinet.
According to the sources, the political and economic situation of the country was discussed in the meeting and issues related to the dissolution of the assemblies, interim setup came under discussion.
In a meeting presided over by the PM, the cabinet approved the country's first music policy. Since 1970, there had been no change in the legal, administrative or policy level in the music sector mentioning that the country’s entertainment sector will face revival due to this effort.
The new music policy will solve other problems faced by the music industry including piracy, copyrights, public performance, production, distribution, adaptation, and duration. The issue of licenses will also be solved which will boost the music industry.
He added that the policy would protect the basic legal rights of music workers along with ending monopolization, ensuring protection of the legal rights of music producers, singers, writers, songwriters, selling, copying and piracy of music.
